The Nursing program at Pikes Peak State College is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience necessary to become competent and compassionate Registered Nurses. This Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program typically takes two years of full-time study to complete. Students will delve into foundational sciences such as anatomy, physiology, and microbiology, as well as core nursing principles and practices encompassing medical-surgical, mental health, and maternal-child nursing. A significant component of the program is hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply their learning in real-world healthcare settings like hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities within the Colorado Springs area. Upon successful graduation, students are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination, the national licensure exam for registered nurses.
